The inaugural Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail Festival will take place on the 14th- 16th March 2009. The festival consists of a 3 day organised walk along the Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail. On each of the 3 days transport will be provided to and from start / finish points.

World Heart Day took place on Sunday 5th October 2008. A total of 8 Communities organised walks within their respective area. Listed hereunder are photographs that were taken of some of the events.
Irelands first ever National Trails Day took place on Sunday the 28th September 2008. In Mayo scheduled walks took place on National Loop Trails at Derrada outside Newport and Ceathrú Thaidgh in North Mayo. As part of the event, walking was brought to a new level as Nordic Walking was demonstrated, and tried by all.
National Trails Day was supported nationally by the National Trails Office, Coillte, Failte Ireland & The Department of Community, Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs and locally by Mayo County Council, Mayo Sports Partnership, South West Mayo LEADER Co., local Rural Social Schemes and Comhar Dún Chaocháin Teo.
