Mulranny Walking Weekend

Why not blow away the cobwebs and join us in Mulranny to explore the beauty of the countryside during our walking weekend. Mulranny & the Great Western Greenway is a European Destination of Excellence and the area was recently listed as one of the top 10 walking destinations in Ireland by the Bridgestone Guide 2012. Enjoy two night’s luxurious Bed & Breakfast with a gourmet evening meal in the acclaimed Nephin Restaurant on one evening, 2 guided walks and 2 packed lunches.

Saturday’s walk is the Clew Bay Coastal Walk which is 16km and takes 5 hours over tracks and shore. There is an option of a shorter 10km (3hour) walk.

Sunday is the Mulranny Loop Walk over tracks and heath which is “one of the most beautiful short walks in this island” according to Christopher Somerville from the Irish Independent.  It is 10km and takes approximately 4 hours to complete.
Again there is the option of a 6km or 4km walk on this route for those looking for a less taxing experience!

Dates:   Friday April 6 – Monday April 9th. Now in its fourth year - come to Westport for a weekend of fun, combining healthy outdoor pursuits,  with a couple of really good hill walks in Connemara & Mayo.

Itinerary:
Friday 6th April – check into B&B.
Saturday 7th April
Start time: 09.30am
Northern Bens in Connemara: A nice Horseshoe walk to start-The hike takes in Knockbrack, Ben Bhreac and Binn Bhan and will take between 4-5 hours to complete

Total height gain: 650 metres

Sunday 8th April
Start time: 09.30am
Croughaun Mountain Achill Island. We start from the beach at Keem and make our way uphill to the lookout tower at Moyteoge Head. Following the cliff trail towards Achill Head before descending to the saddle and climb to the summit of Croughaun. The hike finishes at Lough Accorymore.

·     This walk may be done in reverse depending on the wind direction.

Walk Details: Ascent 750 m, Time 5 hours.

Please note that the itinerary can be changed or altered at the discretion of the guides.
NB: All walkers require proper walking boots with ankle support, fleece, hat, gloves, rainwear, rain protected rucksack and a supply of water and food.
